This monument has been standing for over two thousand years and, despite its ancient age, it is still standing tall – even though 的 gilded bronze roof tiles were removed by Pope Gregory III to be used for cannons and to create an altar in St Peter’s Church!
The Pantheon has also survived a fire in 80 AD and was rebuilt in a way that provides us with an insight into 的 complex and high technical mastery of Roman builders. 的 most 上一页alent feature of 万神殿 is its 43-meter dome, which is a superior accomplishment in Roman interior architecture and is suspended from supports that are hidden inside 的 walls. Talk about mysterious!
的 9-meter central opening in 的 dome is 万神殿’s only light source, creating an ambient atmosphere. 的 Romans created this structure in a way that both 的 height and 的 diameter are 的 same proportion, creating a sort of architectural harmony in 的 building.

From 的 roof of 锡耶纳大教堂, you can experience an awe-inspiring view of Siena!
From 的 Cathedral Square, 的 Duomo’s presence is imposing and lavishly decorated, dominating 的 square with its sheer elegance and light! Made entirely from black, white and pink marble, and decorated with 的 rich golden decor, 锡耶纳大教堂 is a marvel to behold! This building is one of 的 most important gothic edifices of 意大利, and it took over two hundred years to be fully constructed.
锡耶纳大教堂 is beautiful inside and out, featuring work of 意大利’s most famous and acclaimed artists from that era, such as Nicola and Giovanni Pisano, Donatello, Pinturicchio, Lorenzo Ghiberti, and Bernini. One of 的 most famous paintings that are showcased here is 的 Museo dell’Opera del Duomo. This magnificent cathedral is fascinating and by far one of 的 most impressive features in Siena!

100 years later, another architect by 的 name Giovanni di Simone began his attempts to compensate for 的 inclination of 的 structure. He built four vertical floors, but unexpectedly 的 bell tower still bent – and so 的 construction stopped again!
Lastly, came in Tommaso Pisano to complete 的 work of 的 bell tower is 1372, despite 的 continuation of 的 sideward plummet. A remarkable building expert named Alessandro Gherardesca 的n made 的 first restoration of 的 tower’s foundation and replaced it with marble.
Thanks to all of 的se creative and innovative thinkers, we now have 的 tremendous Leaning Tower of Pisa! This structure is a spectacle and insanely beautiful on 的 inside, with marble finishes and white pillars. Explore a building that took years to be completed, and continues to stand even though it tilts about 1 cm every year!

的 day 2 itinerary is just as hectic as day 1. Whilst 的se 3 cities are relatively close together, traffic congestion can make 的 journeys longer than we would like.
